UCSB Surplus Sales maintains a diverse and constantly evolving collection of surplus items sourced from across campus—including furniture, electronics, lab and custodial equipment, appliances, and more. Expect variability in condition, size, and specifications: items may range from lightly used office chairs to commercial-grade shelving and specialty research tools. Popular categories include desks (including sit-stand models), chairs, monitors and peripherals, printers, cables, refrigerators, and occasional fleet vehicles. Specialized or one-of-a-kind items often surface from departmental cleanouts, making repeat visits worthwhile.

UCSB Student Health Service – Physical Therapy Collection

An extensive collection of clinical rehabilitation and therapy equipment from UCSB’s Student Health Service Physical Therapy department. This release includes medical-grade treadmills, clinical electrotherapy units (TENS, NMES, IFC), Hi-Lo treatment tables, ultrasound therapy devices, therapeutic exercise equipment, and more. Also featured are parallel bars, balance trainers, foam rollers, resistance band stations, treatment stools, rehab steps, stationary bikes, and moist heat units. Items are primarily in good to excellent condition, with many accompanied by detailed maintenance and service histories from their clinical use. UCSB Theater & Dance – Costume Shop Collection

A vibrant and eclectic collection of costumes and wardrobe pieces from UCSB’s Theater & Dance Costume Shop. UCSB ECE Lab Collection

This curated collection features surplus equipment from UC Santa Barbara’s Electrical & Computer Engineering lab that focuses on advanced photonics and integrated circuits, including optical waveguides, ultra-fast electro-optic modulators, WDM components, and photonic nanostructures (engineering.ucsb.edu). You’ll find lab-grade photonic instruments, device fabrication tools, optical benches, precision electronics, and specialty components—all reflecting the lab’s cutting-edge research in guided-wave devices and semiconductor optical systems. Most items are in excellent or great condition provide excellent opportunities for designers, researchers, and educators seeking professional-grade photonics and electronics equipment.

UCSB Recreation Center Gym Collection

An extensive collection of retired fitness and athletic equipment from UCSB’s Recreation Center. This release includes treadmills, stair steppers, ellipticals, rowing machines, free weights, barbells, used tennis balls, and more. Items range in condition from good to in need of repair and may be ideal for home gyms, small studios, or repurposing. Some equipment may be well-used but remains functional with minor maintenance.

UCSB Transportation & Parking Services Fleet Collection

When UCSB vehicles are deemed unfit for further campus use—due to mileage, maintenance needs, or age—they may be released for public auction via Public Surplus. This collection includes passenger vehicles, utility carts, and other transport-related assets retired from UCSB’s Transportation & Parking Services and partner Fleet departments. Important disclaimers may apply, including “for parts only,” smog failure, or restrictions on who may purchase. Please read each auction listing carefully for eligibility and condition details.

UCSB Recreation Sailing Fleet Collection – Vanguard & CFJ Vessels

This special collection features surplus sailing boats from UCSB Recreation’s fleet, including 2008 Vanguard 15 and 2016 Club Flying Junior (CFJ) vessels—popular one‑design dinghies built by Vanguard Sailboats/LaserPerformance renowned for collegiate regattas. Most boats are in good, sea-worthy condition, though a few may require repairs. Buyers will find high-quality recreational and training sailboats suitable for club or educational use, with condition varying individually.
